Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center Ministry

Chair: Minister Lloyd E. Smart
Co-Chair: Minister Darin Pearson

Frequency of ministry fellowship and/or meeting:  4 Sunday of each month

The UFCM RJDCM is a ministry that reaches out to at risk and troubled youth. We are comprised of volunteers that have a burden (an unction -1 John 2:20) for incarcerated and at risk youth. The foundational scripture for this ministry is Matthew 25:36,”…I was in prison and you came unto me”. The ages of the detainees range from preteen to 18 years old.

Our mission is to restore, reconcile and revitalize our fellow man—trouble, incarcerated and at risk youths. Our vision and goals are to reduce recidivism!!! What is recidivism? It is the tendency to relapse into a previous undesirable type of behavior. In this case its misconduct that leads to crime more often than not. How does it get reduce? This will come by volunteers ministering the word of GOD weekly—bible study, life skills and celebration/worship services. We are in the process of scheduling an annual seminar and barbeque with Jimmy Larche (http://www.breakawayoutreach.com/). He has been involved in Juvenile ministry for some years and we attended one of his seminars last year. This will be an opportunity for other ministries to join our ministry to receive insight and a special day of barbequing and events.
